The old story: “Well I don’t want to tell folks about my idea, because someone might steal it.” I really hope that you don’t just have one idea, and this one idea is going to change your life. If you have one good idea, chances are you will have many others, or already have many others. I hear many folks holding onto their ideas, so they never see it manifested due to worrying about it getting stolen. You have to ask yourself, is it worth the stress? Is it worth the risk to never get anything going, let alone your idea?

I’m going to take a bold step here, and say no way. I say yell on every rooftop as loud as you can about your ideas. Get them out there NOW. Films are a collaborative medium. Without others, you most likely can’t get a good movie made. And without telling people about your idea, they won’t care to help you make it. If you put your idea out there in confidence, with the way the universal law works, you will attract the right people that believe in your project, and want to help get it made for you, rather than steal it from you. Most people in the world aren’t out to steal your ideas. Most people actually really do care and want to help. And even more people are too lazy or not even capable of even making something out of your idea. We need to stop living in a society that keeps us hooked on the fear that holds us back from achieving any of our dreams.

I can promise you that if you just ignore the fear and never feed it, and get yourself out there, it must work. The universe doesn’t just stop working for you. It’s always ON, and always creating. We just have to have a little belief, and jump. I know all this is easier said than done, the key is to get uncomfortable, and just do it. But if you can’t get away from being afraid of getting your idea stolen, it’s an easy fix. Just go copyright and register it at http://www.copyright.gov and http://www.wgawregistry.org/webrss or one the WGA registry sites. Copyrighting only costs about $50 and WGA only $20. That’s worth a lot less than stress and risk, yes?

Now, what to focus on. I highly suggest you focus on building the right team, and networking with distribution channels of any kind. Go to networking mixers, and keep networking, and build relationships. Don’t ask someone for something right away, just have fun with them, and get to know them. And most of all, don’t be afraid to tell them your ideas if it feels right, they may just be the person willing to help it get going. This process at times can take years and this is when major patience comes in handy.

Key thing is folks, is that ideas are a dime a dozen. The true challenge to tackle is building the right team, and right networks, ‘cause you can only go as far as your network can take you.

This is not a blog on what is the right camera to use, which editing system to get into, or how to become a producer. I will break some of that stuff down on further blogs. What’s important first before all else is knowing how to set your foundation up for major success in Hollywood. We already know all the war stories of how hard it is to break into Hollywood. Well, us here at Watery Flame Productions plan to teach you a formula that will help make it a little easier to break this puppy down.

Now keep in mind that like everything in life, there is some action you must put behind it. Think of a movie set where the whole crew gets ready to shoot a scene; there are many elements that go into getting that shot ready, but if nobody yells action, the talent never starts. You have all this stuff that goes into it, but it takes 2 seconds to yell action to hit the gas. So, in saying that, physical action is only 10% of making it in the business.

You may be thinking: But WAIT Denny, I’ve been taught that you must work very hard to be successful. Well, go ahead and keep doing that, and join 90% of the world that’s broke. 10% of the world is where the rich, successful folks play. You want to play in that playground, then you must play by their rules, not the rules of what 90% of society thinks you should play.

The key is what I call The Last Formula. The last formula is mixing your spiritual self with your physical self, and using that to create what you want your life to be, instead of it picking it for you. You want to drive your life, not be driven by it. How do you drive your life without using all the life you have to give to the point where it drives you to exhaustion? Well, let me hip you to a book that changed my life. You may of heard of it, and if you did and have read it already, read it again anyway, because repetition is one of things successful people use. The book is “Think And Grow Rich” by Napolean Hill. This book has the exact formula you will need to clear your mind of all the noise, and start focusing on your dream of making that project come alive.

These are actual methods that people have used to become successful in their lives. If you follow this and implement these methods, you have a lot more of a chance of becoming successful at your dream within your life.

So direct your little arrow to this link: and get your read on. And once you’re done, contact us about working with us. Because we are looking for folks that have that good needed foundation.

The key to any success in life is to get over yourself first. This statement is not to provoke or get your ego all flared up, but most of us get mad when someone tells us we have to improve something about ourselves, that secretly inside we know is true, so we get defensive. By getting defensive, you are proving that they’re right. And of course, sometimes that ego needs feeding too to get yourself amped up, but that’s another subject. So, I’m going to ask you for 5 little minutes, to drop the ego, and open your mind to a world where you’re directing, writing, shooting, acting, or whatever it is you like doing.

Ask yourself, what inspired you to make movies in the first place? It was most likely something that went through Hollywood, even the Indies have to go through Hollywood. So naturally, this is the cream of the crop for all of us. The ultimate dream, to get our work showcased in front of billions of people who will enjoy it. By doing that, you must make it into Hollywood (aka the mecca of the making of screen entertainment). I feel that every filmmaker wants this. And the ones that say they don’t, are just too afraid to fail in getting it.

For once in our life let’s allow this simple little blog to set us free of excuses, time, money, health, or whatever road block we like to put in front of us. Yes, we are afraid of success, and that’s why we put up those road blocks. That’s why we don’t go for our dreams. You heard that right. WHY? Well once we achieve a certain type of success, now the spot light is on us, and we have to keep our game up. So that scares us. I can pretty much end this blog right here, and basically say ‘why you’re not in Hollywood, is YOU!’ But let me break down some mindset stuff for you, and show some proof of what has happened to me through the pure desire and motivation to want success really really bad. Oh ya and the key is also to not WANT, but to BE

2007 was a crazy year for me, it’s when my whole world, and the old me had died. It started with me losing my job, then my cars, then my house, then my wife, and yes, even my favorite dog But it was also the best thing that had ever happen to me, ‘cause it woke me up. Unfortunately, we need a big slap in the face to wake us up from what we are really doing to ourselves, like a visit to the emergency room, because we eat to much crap, or smoke, or do whatever it is that isn’t benefiting us. It always cracks me up when parents say that there isn’t a book on parenting. Funny thing is that there really is. The information of what can benefit us is out there. There are books on every single thing you can imagine. All you have to do is read them. That was the first key to my success, how my life turned for the best. I went to the book store and pretty much lived in one for 7 months reading every little book on business, spirituality, health, etc. that I could find.

I know what your thinking: but Denny, how is this going to help me break into Hollywood? Well have you ever seen someone build a house without the foundation? These things are your foundation. Hollywood actually runs off of these foundations too. Every person that made it in Hollywood had to have these principles set:

They must get over themselves, and put their ego aside.

They must not be afraid of criticism, for this is what sparks being afraid of success.

They must constantly be improving themselves, and must treat others (esp. in their industry) with kindness.

They must be constantly educating themselves; this is imperative for receiving each and every job they do.

They must set aside time to work up to that dream if they aren’t there yet, and work on their dream without the fear of financial insecurity.

Even for people who have made it to their dream job as, cinematographer let’s say, once fear of insecurity steps in for them because they’ve hit a dry spell on work (and this happens with most of them), they must have the strength to not get a job they don’t care for, and keep going. If they get that job they don’t care for, the dream stops because they have no time to work on their dream job now. They can no longer call themselves a cinematographer, but a salesman or whatever it is. People must have focus on what they are passionate about, otherwise they won’t be it.

See, we are born into this world, in my opinion, with a really really bad education system. Unfortunately, the education system is good at keeping you from really doing what you want to do in your life. We all think we need a piece of paper to get a good job, then when we do get that job we find out that we really don’t even want to do that, but we stay for the security. I’m here to declare that you don’t need to stay where you are right now. Yes, it takes time, you can’t just quit your secure job right now, I get it. But on your down time, start working on the dream. All entrepreneurs got super rich off of their spare time. They worked for it, it wasn’t handed to them.

So if you are serious, and ready to really learn how to break into that Hollywood dream, stay tuned to this blog. I will be recommending awesome books that will change your life, so that you can start building relationships, systems, teams, and the right mindset to get your project into the right eyes. Because at the end, all that matters is that we get our project seen by millions. That is the dream of any artist, to move millions with their creative minds. Why not use that creative mind, to help you move into that moment
